People are willing to try anything in an attempt to get rid of acne, that's why the pharmaceutical companies rake in billions of dollars each year.

Let's face it, some acne herbal remedies are every bit as effective as most of these so called treatments, there are no side effects, and it's cheaper. Its always wiser to try and cure something naturally so that you don't take the risk of messing up any other part of your system in the process.

There are several different herbs you can take which will help to at least clear up your skin, and who knows, maybe get rid of your acne altogether.

Try These Acne Herbal Remedies

Here are some herbs that you can use for problem skin, which are good to help get your body back into balance and clear up your skin naturally.

Lavender - Apart from smelling nice, it has some great healing qualities. Lavender has antiseptic properties that help to reduce inflamation, it's also very good for the skin, and can help to clear up your acne.

How to use : Use a water soluble lavender oil and mix it with water (half and half) apply to the skin after using your normal cleanser. Dry off after a few minutes and apply moisturiser. Works for some, but not everybody.

Basil - Trusty old Basil has been used to treat many things over the years, but most notably for our purposes here, it kills bacteria, which could be the root of your acne problems. It also helps to clean the blood. Even the soil used for growing Basil has it's uses. It's so pure that it's used in mud baths because of it's healing properties.

How to use : Just like making tea. Put 2 teaspoons of dried basil leaves in a cup and add boiling water. Leave to cool and apply to infected areas.

Sandalwood - Comes from the bark of the Sandalwood tree, and it's widely used in aromatherapy. Sandalwood is noted for being an aphrodisiac and antidepressant. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, and guess what? It's good for acne, and gives the skin a lasting, healthy glow.

How to use : You can make up a very simple paste by mixing together 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, and 1 teaspoon of water. Apply directly to spots, very gently of course.

Tea Tree Oil - Perhaps one of the most popular herbs, it has antibacterial properties, and it works as an antiseptic to help treat your acne and keep your skin healthy. It has to be diluted before applying directly to the skin. This is the best alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide, which is banned in Europe.

How to use : Cleanse as normal. Dilute 1 part tea tree oil with 9 parts water for normal skin. If you have sensitive skin use aloe vera gel instead of water. Apply using a cotton bud and leave to dry before moisturising.

Green Tea - This is excellent for your health in general, including your skin. It's healing qualities were discovered in asia, where it has been used for thousands of years. Green Tea is a powerful antioxidant that helps to detox the body on the inside, and a healthy body inside shows on the skin.

How to use : Make it as you would ordinary tea and keep the teabags. Don't add milk or sugar to the tea. Apart from anything else, it's quite pleasant to drink, so drink a few cups daily and you'll soon be enjoying the benefits of it's healing effects. When the teabags have cooled, apply to infected areas. This helps to kill bacteria, and reduce inflamation.

That's it for my acne herbal remedies.

There are many acne treatments, but what works for one person may not work for another. Acne herbal remedies are safe to take, so it's worthwhile trying them before you start spending lots of money on other treatments.
